What we do
"The first thing to say is that, unlike many other independent churches, we are in no way simply a 'clergy factory'. If you want that, please look elsewhere with our prayers and best wishes". (Bishop Ryan Cleminson - Primate of the LCCSSI)..
If you feel a genuine love of God and desire to be in a personal, living relationship with Jesus as your risen Lord through the Holy Spirit, then read on!
We are a small but an effective 'family', working in pastoral ministry to everybody, but especially:
* Young people
* Rough sleepers
* Those in addiction & recovery
* People dispossessed by their families & religions for being 'different' (you could not find more 'different' people than us)
* Those living with disability, both physical & mental
* The LGBTQIA2S+ Community
This rarely happens by people coming through our doors to services, so our ministry teams (all holding police clearances as we are dealing with vulnerable persons in particular and have a duty of care to protect everybody) go out to them. This act of meeting people, where they are at, is known as 'industrial ministry' and forms by far the largest part of our 'work'.
Yes, we also "do church", of course we do, which we achieve through our regular celebration of the sacraments of the 'catholic' ('universal') church.
These are:
* Baptism
* Eucharist (Holy Communion)
* Confirmation
* Reconciliation (Confirmation)
* Anointing of the Sick (& the dying)
* Matrimony (marriage of 2 individuals who wish to make a commitment to each other before God & receive His blessing)
* Holy Orders (Deacon, Priest & Bishop, the 3 original prescribed roles of ordained leadership)
These acts, usually where we gather together in a place set aside for God's worship is known as 'sacerdotal ministry'.
